The idea of Silver Stick Hockey originated in Ottawa in the late 1950s, and it grew to include bordering towns with the Northern U.S.A. In 1960 the first "International" tournament took place. In 1969, a group of Sudbury businessmen banded together to initiate a Regional Tournament in Northern Ontario, and the Sudbury Silver Stick was born.

This years tournament takes place in Sudbury, Ontario from December 09-12, 2010
